A baby boy died in the fire. Ethan Cole Kirkman was not quite two years old.

Wanda told investigators she checked in on her mother-in-law, 57-year-old,
Patricia Kirkman, when she laid Ethan down for his nap.
Officials were told the grandmother appeared to be resting.

SGT. Nester says Patricia Kirkman agreed to a psychological evaluation.
This morning after a competency hearing, a magistrate issued a temporary
detention order.
Kirkman was then transferred to Southern Virginia Mental Institution.
Family members told investigators she has a history of mental health
problems.

sentenced as a juvenile.

It took a Lynchburg jury just 30 minutes today to find 17- year- old Elmo
Jason Wilkerson guilty of statutory burglary and damaging E-C Glass High
School.
Wilkerson and three other teenagers vandalized and set fire to the school in
October, 1993, causing nearly a million dollars in damages.
Judge Richard Miller sentenced Wilkerson to the department of Youth and
Family Services for an undetermined amount of time.
He could be held until he is 21.
