After three years and 700 thousand dollars, it appears Carroll County and Hillsville finally have a cease fire in their border war.

A three- judge annexation court endorsed a compromise in the annexation dispute.
Hillsville's boundaries will nearly double, and possibly triple if the town exercises its option to take in two more parcels over the next 15 years.
It will also waive further annexation rights during that time and share half the county's meals and lodging tax revenues at the Interstate 77 and U.S. 58 interchange.
