A North Carolina man remains hospitilized in serious condition this morning following a firey tractor trailor accident yesterday on Interstate 81.

It happened about two in the afternoon near the 5-81 interchange.
The truck ended up sandwiched between the guardrails of a bridge.
The passenger in the truck, 53- year- old David Morris, was saved by good samaritans as they dragged him to safety just seconds before the truck burst into flames.
Morris had to be airlifted to Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
The driver, 45- year- old Luke Sain, suffered minor injuries and is charged with reckless driving.

Danville investigators are still looking for answers in the death of a 26-year old woman.
The decomposed body of Robyn Annette Gatewood was found more than a month ago.

((Robyn Gatewood's body was discovered October 28th, behind Motley's warehouse.
Police say there did not appear to be any attempt to hide the body, a few leaves were all that covered her remains. An Assistant State Medical Examiner did detect drugs in Gatewood's system.
So without evidence of foul play, Morris says it's possible Robyn Gatewood died from a drug overdose.
According to Morris, no one around Danville had seen Robyn Gatewood for more than a year.
Yet, police say no family members had filed a missing persons report.
Gatewood's maternal grandmother says Robyn had a long history of drug abuse.
As for her disappearance, Ann Gatewood says it wasn't unusual for her granddaughter to be gone for months at a time. ((REPORTER SPEAKS: WHAT KIND OF PERSON WAS ROBYN? Montgomery County authorities say a deputy accidentally shot himself yesterday at the county jail.
Officials says deputy Jeff Spooner was preparing to enter the jail and putting away his weapon when it when off, wounding him in the leg.
He is being held at Montgomery Regional Hospital where he is listed in stable condition.

That was the scenario after this tractor trailer flipped and ended up sandwiched between the guardrails of this bridge on Interstate 81.
The driver suffered minor injuries; his partner was thrown from the cab...witnesses dragged him to safety just before the truck went up in flames. ((BARBARA STELLING/MOTORIST: I RAN UP THE STREET, SCREAMED FOR PEOPLE TO COME HELP ME BECAUSE I KNEW HE WOULD BURN UP IF WE DIDN'T GET HIM OUTTA THERE.)) ((One of the biggest challenges was getting the medical helicopter back over to the highway, because there was a lot going on here in addition to the rescue effort...the truck was still on fire.)) ((SCANNER TRAFFIC: HAVE LANDING ZONE ESTABLISHED FOR LIFEGUARD 10.))
The first time the chopper tried to land it didn't have enough room.
Rescue crews kept attending to the injured truck passenger until Lifeguard 10 had a wider area to touch down on.
After that firefighters finally got to concentrate on just extinguishing the truck full of electronic products.
