It was in the thirty-five hundred block of east fourth street.
A garage behind the Virginia Lift Truck Company caught fire around
When crews arrived on the scene the structure was engulfed.

A house fire has left several Roanoke families homeless.
The fire broke out around nine this morning on Rorer Avenue.
Heavy smoke was coming out of a window from the rear of the house.
Fire officials say the blaze apparently started in an upstairs bedroom.

The house is divided into three apartments.
The first floor apartments received smoke damage.
No one was injured in the blaze.
Fire officials say the cause appears to be accidental.
Firefighters were also at work this afternoon battling a blaze in Chatham.
It happened on route 7-18 around 1-30.
No one was home during the fire.
It totally gutted the one story structure.
Two dogs were killed in the fire.
Fire Chief Worsham believes that the fire started in a wood stove.
The fire is still under investigation.
Frigid temperatures have settled in over Southwest Virginia.
The record lows have prompted more people to seek help from area shelters.
Beds in the Rescue Mission are filling up.
And as the temperatures dip below freezing, Joy Sylvester-Johnson says it's
important to remember that many of the homeless are children.

daughter were slightly wounded by Palestinian gunfire near the West Bank town
of Bethlehem just hours before the Israeli soldiers withdrew from Tulkarem.
The captain and second in command of a Ukrainian cargo ship have been
sentenced to life in prison.
They were found guilty of killing eight African Stow- aways in 19-92.
The stowaways were killed and dumped overboard into the sea off the coast of

One stowaway hid on board and reported the murders when the ship arrived at
A tractor trailer accident on 5-81 closed an exit in Roanoke for several

Averett College is the recipient of another large gift.
The 4-hundred thousand dollar gift increases the college's overall endowment
to more than eleven million dollars.
The gift comes from the E. Stuart James Grant Charitable trust.
The money will go toward construction of the college's new North Campus

former member of its Board of Trustees.
Averett College was founded in 18-59.
