in other transactions, free agent catcher Charlie O'Brien has signed a 2 year
deal with Toronto for just over a million dollars. The 34 year old had a .992
fielding average as a part timer with Atlanta last season. He batted .227 with
9 homers and 23 rbi's.

One track note. Modified race car driver and Martinsville native Kenny
Minter died in an auto racing incident October 29th.
Tomorrow, his fellow competitors form the Southern Modified Racing Teams
will hold an auto show, auction, and dinner to benefit the Minter family.
From 10 am until 4pm at the Old Moore's building on business 220 North in
Martinsville, NASCAR fans can purchase merchandise from Dale Earnhardt, Jeff

County Courthouse.
Little of the building survived, but as Joe Dashiell reports some of its
most valuable contents were saved.
