she walked the quiet streets of her own neighborhood last night.

The accident happened around 8:30 just a couple of blocks from Bonnie
Kitts' house in the Woodbridge subdivision.
She and her husband were out walking- -as they did nearly every evening-
-when they heard the sound of the approaching car.
The car windshield struck Bonnie and carried her some distance.
The driver of the car has also been charged with driving under the
influence. We're not naming him because of his age.

Friends of the family say the boy goes to school with the victim's son.
The two boys are both on the tennis team.
Bonnie Kitts was a teacher of home-bound children in Salem and Roanoke

A typical day at the office ends with a trip to the hospital for about two
dozen Salem workers.

Around Noon employees at Crest Uniforms smelled gas.
The building was then evacuated when some of the workers started feeling
sick.
Because so many people needed treatment, emergency crews ordered a schoolbus
to take them to Lewis-Gale hospital.
Plant Manager Tom Spangler says a tow motor punctured the gas line, but the
problem has been fixed.
He says most of the hospitalized workers experienced nausea and headaches.

responsible for the death of a former Veterans Administration nurse.
She died in 1991 of lung cancer.
