It is one week before Christmas and thousands of Federal Workers are once again off the job.
Budget Meetings hit another stumbling block today-
Word tonight is that talks may pick up tomorrow at the earliest.

As the White House announced a delay in the veto of a third appropriations bill... The president called Senate majority leader Bob Dole and House Speaker Newt Gingrich. He would not however comment to offering a new balanced budget proposal using Republican numbers something GOP leaders say he agreed to last month. Senator Dole said the President was simply making things more difficult.

People spending the holidays on the Blue Ridge Parkway are also feeling the affects.
The Peaks of Otter Lodge resort will close starting Wednesday because of the shutdown.
That'll force hundreds of holiday vacationers to change their plans.
It also means most of the staff will be off the job.
They won't get back pay either. Even though the Lodge is on federal land, it's privately operated.

Danville authorities came up empty handed tonight in their search for a man who MAY have jumped from a bridge.

Two people contacted authorities around seven- thirty tonight to report a man standing on a railing of the Main Street bridge.
Police say when the callers returned to the bridge the man was gone.
Authorities were searching for a black male wearing a blue jacket.
Police, fire and rescue crews combed the Dan River and surrounding area for two and a half hours.
Two divers also searched the water.
Police are uncertain whether they'll resume their search in the morning.

Roanoke County's chief prosecutor wants to try a Glenvar High School manslaughter suspect as an adult.
The boy is accused of killing a school teacher in a high- speed, drunk- driving accident last week.

40- year- old Brenda Ann Davis was killed in the blaze back in May.

One person testified Mahoney was fighting with another man in front of the victim's home-- and afterward, Mahoney yelled as he ran down the street.
