proposal using Republican numbers something GOP leaders say he agreed to last
Senator Dole said the President was simply making things more difficult.

Police say when the callers returned to the bridge the man was gone.
Authorities were searching for a black male wearing a blue jacket.
Police, fire and rescue crews combed the Dan River and surrounding area for
two and a half hours.
Two divers also searched the water.
Police are uncertain whether they'll resume their search in the morning.
Roanoke County's chief prosecutor wants to try a Glenvar High School
manslaughter suspect as an adult.
The boy is accused of killing a school teacher in a high- speed, drunk-
driving accident last week.

The arson and murder trial of a Roanoke man will continue for a second day
During testimony today, witnesses placed 30 year old Raymond Harold Mahoney
at the scene of the fire.
40- year- old Brenda Ann Davis was killed in the blaze back in May.
Witnesses say the two argued outside Davis' Washington Avenue home before
the fire broke out.
One person testified Mahoney was fighting with another man in front of the
victim's home-- and afterward, Mahoney yelled as he ran down the street.

Authorities say Mahoney did come back from his home nearby-- and set fire
to Davis' house.
Davis later died of smoke inhalation.
Pittsylvania County authorities are looking for a teenager who they believe
murdered an elderly Museville man last week.
72 year old Clark Aubrey Adkins was reported missing December 13th.
Police found Adkins' body lying near his abandoned car in the (CAL-inds)

Murder warrants have been sworn out for 19 year old Paul Michael Dalton in

Authorities tonight are trying to figure out who planted a bomb outside
an I-R-S office- in Reno, Nevada.
It was found in a 25 gallon drum- in the parking lot.
The bomb squad removed the explosive device and took it to the desert to

Officials say if the bomb went off it could've damaged a number of cars
and blown out windows facing the parking lot.

Coming up next on the broadcast, rennovations for Victory Stadium could
carry a heavy price tag,
and we'll tell how some Roanoke Express players have set a new goal of
improving Christmas for some area children.
Renovating to Victory Stadium could cost Roanoke more than 11 million
That's the pricetag consultants put on the project today as they laid out
several options to city council.
One alternative would remove the stands on the east side of the stadium to
allow expansion of the track and field.
A second proposal raises the playing field out of the flood plain, and
removes a front section of seats on both sides.
Parking is also a problem, and today officials raised the possibility of
acquiring land on the north side of Reserve Avenue.
Council will narrow its options in January.
Some Roanoke Express players took time off the ice tonight to play Santa
for some local foster children.
With still a week to go before Christmas-- around 50 foster children got

Kansas coach Glen Mason was named the Bulldogs new head coach yesterday
