Wet pavement may have contributed to an accident that KILLED a teenage girl.
It happened on route 2-21 in Floyd County yesterday afternoon.
Police say a Chevy S-10 pickup truck was traveling NORTH on 2-21 when the driver LOST control of the truck, crossed the road, and overturned.
A passenger, 16- year- old Jamie Beckner of Copper Hill was killed.

And an 8- year-old Galax boy was killed when he was struck by a car.
That accident happened Sunday afternoon on Route 7-92 in Carroll County.
Police say Juan Carranza ran down an embankment, onto the highway, and into the path of a vehicle.

Over the opposition of residents and the Bland County Board of Supervisors, the state Air Pollution Control Board has approved a permit for a medical waste incinerator in the county.
The board approved the incinerator 3-2 yesterday.
Case-Lin Systems of Blacksburg says the plant is safe, but residents fear the plant will release toxic chemicals.
Opponents of the plant probably won't be able to appeal the decision because state law restricts the rights of residents to challenge pollution permits in court.

Police in Rowland say they caught the 19- year old breaking into a motel room yesterday morning.

Several options are being considered such as tearing down one side of the stadium to allow expansion of the track and field.
A second alternative would raise the field several feet to reduce the threat from flooding.

A school construction project is ahead of schedule in Roanoke County, but yesterday School Superintendent Deanna Gordon was still WAITING on a group of construction workers.
