Officials say 84-year old Evelyn Scott was apparently trying to refuel a kerosene heater when she fell and spilled fuel into an electric heater.
The fuel caught fire leaving Scott with second and third degree burns to her face, arms and chest.
An off duty firefighter just happened to be driving by and stopped and aided the woman.
She was flown to Roanoke Memorial before being transferred to U-V-A.
There was no report on her condition tonight, but officials say she was alert at the scene.

Violation of curfews or missed meeting are punished. ((JUDGE DIANE STRICKLAND/DRUG COURT: WE HAVE A SERIES OF INTERNAL SANCTIONS THAT HAVE BEEN AGREED UPON BY THE STAFF OF THE DAY REPORTING CENTER.
