Meantime, in our region, employees at the Salem V-A Medical facility say
they're putting up with things no other business would ever allow.
The hospital's union workers protested at the V-A's main entrance.

Henry County Animal Control Officer Gerald Wheeler has been convicted of
falsifying a log book, but this afternoon a judge dismissed the felony drug
charge Wheeler was facing.
He was accused of providing pentabarbitol (PEN-tuh-BAR-bih-tawl) to his
son, so Gary Wheeler could euthanize two dogs in Patrick County.
But today a judge said he didn't believe the animal control officer had any
criminal intent when he supplied the controlled drug.
The judge did fine Wheeler 500 dollars for a misdemeanor, falsifying an
entry in a logbook.
