He was found dead with at General Import Services on Brambleton Avenue by a

Police say they are also baffled.

When Vickie Ross's sister called her home Saturday night and got an
answering machine, she knew something was wrong. Vickie and her husband had
never had an answering machine. And they were supposed to be splitting up.
Before the night was out Bryant Richard Ross had been arrested and charged
with killing his wife.
Ross was arraigned today on murder and firearms charges and for the theft of
his wife's 1988 Buick.
The victim's sister was in court- -between trips to the undertaker to make
arrangements for Friday's funeral.

Johnson says she believes Ross had been stalking her sister... that he
tricked Vickie into returning to the apartment when she returned to Roanoke
after spending Christmas with her mother in Philadelphia.
He had moved out- -in keeping with their agreement to separate over the
holidays, but she says he was hiding in the apartment and surprised her.
A preliminary hearing in the case was set for January 25th.
A Henry County teenager accused of killing his stepfather New Year's Eve is
The shooting happened at the victim's residence in Fieldale.
After a court appearance today the 15- year- old was released into the
custody of his mother and ordered to wear an electronic monitoring device.
He was also ordered to undergo counseling.
Police say 30- year- old, James Nelson Marshall, Junior was shot in the

22- caliber rifle when the weapon discharged.
A Danville woman who was a passenger in a car that collided with a fire
truck on New Year's Eve has died.
The accident happened at the intersection of Routes 58 and 622 in
Hospital officials say 69- year old Recie (REE-CEE) Clay died yesterday.
Her husband, DeRoy (DEE-ROY) Clay was driving the car.
The couple's 11- year old grandson was also in the vehicle.

Today, a judge in Lewisburg scheduled a full hearing in February to consider
Lippard's motion for a new trial.

Two full- time police officers will be assigned to Danville's five housing
City council approved the arrangement last night.
A grant from the U-S Department of Housing and Urban Development will
reimburse the city.
Right now, the areas are patrolled part-time.
Security manager Kenny Wiggins believes full time officers will be more
effective because they'll establish ties with the residents.

The officers will begin work in the housing communities by next month.
A former official of Virginia's Explore Park, and an advocate for the Blue
Ridge Parkway has a new mission.
Richard Burrow has been hired as the executive director of the National
D-Day Memorial Foundation.
Burrow was the project engineer for Explore, overseeing planning and
construction of the park's Blue Ridge Settlement.
More recently he has served as executive director of the group, Friends of
the Blue Ridge Parkway.
Foundation officials confirm they've hired Burrow to lead their effort to
build a national D-Day monument.
His office will be located in Bedford.
Roanoke will soon lose its status as the only large city in Virginia with a
department store downtown.
