loses her fight for life.

death of a man found at his workplace yesterday.

The Blue Ridge man found dead at work had been beaten with multiple blows to
the head and body, according to the chief medical examiner.
Authorities say 26- year- old Christopher Lee Wilson was found dead at his
workplace--General Import Services on Brambleton Avenue.
Wilson's co- workers discovered his body early yesterday morning.
A Danville woman who was riding in a car that collided with a fire truck New
Years Eve has died.
Hospital officials say 69- year old Recie (REESIE) Clay died yesterday.
She was a passenger in a car driven by her husband, DeRoy (DEE-Roy) Clay.
The Clay's grandson was also in the car.
Both are recovering from their injuries.
The couple's vehicle collided Sunday afternoon with a Brosville-Cascade
Volunteer fire truck at the intersection of Route 58 and 622 in Pittsylvania
State police say the fire truck was on the way to a fire call.
No charges have been filed.
The truce in the partisan name-calling in Washington is over.
The White House is demanding that House Republicans approve a Senate-passed
plan to reopen the government.
House Republicans say they will not do it UNLESS a balanced budget
agreement is reached.
Budget talks resume this afternoon at the White House.

A federal judge says he WILL rule today on a request by federal workers'
unions to bar the government from forcing employees to work without pay during

Defense Secretary William Perry and Joint Chiefs Chairman General John
Shalikashvili arrived in Tuzla this morning.
They are scheduled to spend most of their three-hour visit inspecting U.S.

Brzonkala says Linebacker Tony Morrison- -and another player- -raped her in
September of 94.
Morrison was convicted of sexual assault by a University Judicial Committee
last Spring and suspended for two semesters.

getting the suspension overturned-
though Morrison was LATER suspended for some UN-related offenses.
Neither Morrison- -nor the other player, James Crawford- -were allowed to go

Even though victory was sweet, most players are not sticking around to bask

The Hokies' missing Sugar Bowl trophy was SAFELY packed in their bags when
they came home.
It was feared the trophy was lost after Coach Frank Beamer turned it over
to his senior players.
After that the seniors said they were NOT sure what happened to it.
Beamer promised an all-out search for the trophy-ONLY to discover one of his
players had hidden it as a JOKE.
It's now SAFE and sound at its new home in Blacksburg.

Well the Richmond Planning Commission knows exactly where the design for a
sculpture of Arthur Ashe is, but now it says it's NOT so sure it likes it.
So the commission has decided to consider an international competition to
design ANOTHER statue of the tennis star.
Yesterday's decision came after the commission gave preliminary approval
last year to an artist's design for the sculpture on Monument Avenue.
The commission's meeting was originally intended to approve minor
changes in the design.
But objections raised this week by art critics and others opened the door
for more debate on the statue's design.
