A Portland man has been charged with attempted murder, assault and
kidnapping after shooting two people and taking several hostages at his former
place of employment.
Police say the gunman, 24- year old James Rincker, had been fired from his
job as a deliveryman at a company located in the 30-story building where the

who had him fired.
Police say Rincker shot and wounded two men in a parking garage, and then
took four bystanders hostage for several hours before surrendering.
Walter Correll, Junior was sent to prison ten years ago for the murder of a

Correll's attorneys argued he was borderline retarded, but authorities in
Roanoke and Franklin County say he was acting out of hate when he beat a man he
believed was homosexual.
Last night, he was executed.

An eight-year-old boy is dead from injuries he suffered when he was hit by a
Police say Kyle Helton was waiting for his school bus yesterday morning
along route 57 when he ran in front of a car.
He suffered head trauma, a broken leg and possible internal injuries.
Helton was airlifted to a Roanoke hospital but doctors could not save him.
Authorities do not expect to file any charges against the driver, 57- year
old Pauline Woodall of Axton.

And Lynchburg police say a woman was killed yesterday when her car was
struck by a truck driven by 19- year- old Andrew Viar the third of Evington.
Authorities say Viar apparently ran a red light.
The woman's name is not being released until all family members are

A lawyer for the family of murder victim Ronald Goldman says Simpson's
attorneys are trying to disqualify another plaintiff attorney.
Michael Brewer, who represents Goldman's mother, says the Simpson camp
claims that lawyer Daniel Petrocelli may once have represented a business with
which Simpson is involved.
Petrocelli denies any conflict of interest and says Simpson's lawyers are
just trying to avoid the deposition.
