Russell Damron says these estimates are mostly for fender benders and small dents and dings caused by weather related accidents.
The weather has also caused damage to buildings and homes.
Mike Bailey says ice and water are usually the main culprits.

Business wasn't good for a mall in Prince William County today.
The Potomac Mills Outlet Mall is closed because snow has caused the roof to sag.
The damage was discovered around midnight last night when security guards heard a noise.
Engineers are assessing the problem.
Building inspectors will have to check out the repairs before the mall can re-open.
Potomac Mills is one of the largest shopping malls on the East Coast.

A train derailed near Lynchburg, spilling two-thousand gallons of diesel fuel.
It happened around 1:45 this morning.
Norfolk Southern officials say the train placed a main track out of service for about thirteen hours.
They say the spill does NOT threat nearby water supplies.
The wreck caused 31-thousand dollars in damage.
Officials are still investigating.

The mako shark attacked their vessel while the boaters where throwing bait in the water to attract sharks.
The four were also nearly run over by a cargo ship.
All four were recuperating, from sunburn, dehydration, and mild hypothermia.
Mako sharks are considered aggressive and have attacked boats and people before.

Today, whale rescue teams off the coast of Australia abandoned plans to return three stranded whales to sea.
They've been taken to a temporary home at the Sea World theme park in that country.
There, they will be released into the ocean once fully recovered.
Yesterday, the condition of the whales worsened, despite being given nutrients.
Of the original seven two were successfully released, two have died and three are still recuperating.

Astronauts aboard the "Endeavour" have successfully retrieved a four-ton Japanese science satellite.

The probe was launched from Japan last March, containing experiments conducted over the past ten months.
It's the first time a spacecraft launched by one country has been retrieved by another.
Some of the information obtained will be studied for future space flights.
Before returning to earth, Endeavor's crew will also release a U.S. science satellite into space, and take two spacewalks.
The shuttle is scheduled to land next Saturday.
