Farris says her brother gave hope to us all.
The three hour ceremony was held at the church where King, his father and
grandfather all served.
The President, Coretta Scott King and others today also laid a wreath at

It's been more than 30- years since Doctor King delivered his words of

Reverend William Avon Keene helped organize this morning's march along

Roanoke is on its regular schedule of refuse collection this week... though
the city is asking residents to bring their trash to the curb.

Jean, Roanoke County will resume its trash collection tomorrow, with pick-up
running a day behind the regular schedule.
Salem schools are the first in the Roanoke Valley to open after last week's

Elementary School made it impossible for plows to get into the area.
Snow was shoveled from the sidewalks by hand and then taken away by dump

At least one person has died and 20 others are injured after a massive
pileup this morning on a North Carolina highway.
Some 40 cars were involved in the chain reaction accident on Interstate 40
at Canton, in far western North Carolina.
A ten- mile stretch of the highway was closed in both directions.
Heavy fog is being blamed for the mishap.

At a roller skating rink in Whitman, Massachusetts, an awning collapsed

of a church gymnasium there last night.

The National Cancer Institute is alarmed after studying kids and teens, to
learn what vegetable they call the favorite.
Their finding: French Fries.

people to its staff, but it's not costing the county a dime.

Here's Keith Humphry with a preview on a program that's linking cops with
Jean, the TRIAD program was developed seven years ago as a way to help the
elderly learn how to avoid becoming victims of crime.
In Bedford, they've taken it a step further... now senior citizens are
volunteering their time at the sheriff's department.
They're helping with clerical duties, which is freeing up deputies for more
important jobs like patrolling the roads.
Today was the first day on the job for two of the program's volunteers.
