SUPER=03-Roanoke/This Morning;
The blaze started shortly after midnight in an abandoned home on 11th
Street and Richmond Avenue.
The vacant building was burning out of control when firefighters arrived.
They were able to quickly knock down the flames, but say fighting the fire
was made more difficult due to the lack of fire hydrants in the area.
Also the home was apparently being used to store recycled building
materials which added fuel to the flames.
The cause of fire is still under investigation.
Neighbors say homeless people frequently stayed there to keep warm.
It is the second time in three years the structure has burned.
