Simpson appeared relaxed and candid during the television interview.
An intense legal interview occupied most of Simpson's day.
But this time Kim Goldman was under orders to stay out of the deposition
Simpson's lawyers asked she be kept from the room.
So now she's near the room and watches Simpson as he passes by.

They did lose a minor skirmish.
A judge decided the Goldman and Brown families cannot have access to O.J.

It was just yesterday that Roanoke building officials said they would not
take action against a landlord for failing to install smoke detectors-
But now they've referred the case to the commonwealth's attorney.
Five members of one family died on Saturday night, when an extension cord
caught fire and the flames spread to a second floor apartment.
Officials initially said they would not cite the landlord for possibly
violating property maintenance code.
Today they called in commonwealth's attorney Don Caldwell to review the

The federal budget impasse is leading one of the nation's chief credit
rating services to issue a stern warning to Washington.
Moody's Investor Services is threatening to lower the rating on nearly 400

A hazing incident prompts Virginia Tech to suspend seven members of the
corps of cadet for two semesters.
University spokesman Larry Hincker says a cadet filed a complaint with the
university after the incident in early December.
The seven students admitted their involvement without going through the
Hincker says the students dropped off a fellow cadet in a remote area of
Montgomery County, forcing him to find his way home.
Hincker says there was potential for harm to the student because it happened
on an extremely cold night.
In 1991, the Halifax County Comets were flying high.

A dispute with a neighbor-- NOT racism-- is believed the cause of a cross
burning last weekend.
Police say they've spoken with the residents of 12-22 Tompkins Avenue-- who
don't believe their inter- racial relationship led to the incident.
Instead, they think it was the act of an angry neighbor.
Cross burning is a felony in Virginia.
Police are still investigating.

Baliles feels strongly enough about the museum to have donated some of the

It's just another step toward major league fundraising that museum officials

Recent flooding in Rockbridge County is to blame for drying up water
reserves in the area.
Lexington officials say that caused a serious water shortage this week.
The flooding created problems processing water at the treatment plant.
For the past two days residents have been asked to conserve.
Consultants were called in to address the problem.

Last week's flooding forced the Cascades Recreation Area in Giles County to
About 90 percent of the trail to the falls sustained major damages.
Rocks slid from saturated hillsides, and Little Stoney Creek deposited even
more debris when it raged out of its banks.
The floodwaters wiped out two bridges and severely damaged a third.
Much of the trail must be completely rebuilt, at an estimated cost of as
much as 300 thousand dollars.
