A federal judge has dismissed the claims of a Virginia Tech Veterinary
School student who said she was "strip- searched" during a make-up test.
Tech dismissed Debbie Carboni because of her poor academic performance,
having failed three courses.
In today's decision, Judge James Turk concluded Vet school officials "acted
reasonably." When they suspected Carboni was cheating on the urology make-up
exam last April, they asked her to raise her blouse and drop her pants to prove
she didn't have study notes on her.
They did NOT find notes on HER, but some were found nearby.
As the judge pointed out, Carboni never refused or resisted being searched,
and he said "Carboni was wrong to have class notes with her in the exam room at
all."
