Oliver North says he's staying neutral in the race for the Republican Senate nomination, but he sounds like he's already made his pick.

But when he described his ideal candidate yesterday at a meeting of Republican leaders in Richmond, it sounded a lot like challenger Jim Miller.
And it did not sound like incumbent Republican John Warner.
Warner broke rank with the G-O-P in 19-94 to support an independent candidate instead of North.
North says Republicans need a candidate who would support conservative U-S Supreme Court nominees and back party nominees.

Government officials who regulate building safety are concerned about a bill that would alter the duties of the state fire marshal's office.
The office is part of the Department of Housing's division of building regulations.
The legislation would make it part of the Department of Public Safety's fire services board.
Building officials say it would no longer have the authority to help enforce the Uniform Statewide Building Code.
