((The White House welcomed the news even though reports indicate wholesale
prices creeped up again for the second straight month. But the Administration
as well as economists continue to play down any talk of inflation pointing to
higher energy costs due to the severe winter.

Meanwhile, county officials say it's up to those who own the land to

Rockbridge County is among 10 new Virginia localities eligible for federal
assistance after this month's flooding.

Today disaster recovery officials listed the counties of Augusta, Clarke,
Frederick, Loudoun, Page, Rockingham, and Rockbridge.
The cities included Buena Vista, Covington, and Waynesboro.
Investigators are still trying to determine what caused last night's house
fire in Craig County that killed two children.
According to their grandfather,
5- year- old Christopher Thomas Howard and his sister, 3 year old Harle
(HAR-lee) Gayle Howard locked themselves in a closet when the fire started.
Their bodies were taken to the medical examiner for an autopsy.
Meanwhile today, special agents from the State Police walked through the
rubble of the New Castle Home-- trying to figure out what triggered the fire.
They hope to know more in the coming days.

They along with friends and neighbors tried to pull the children out of the
house but were unsuccessful.
A Danville woman says one of the men charged with killing Angel Dejesus
(De-HEY-sues) also tried to kill her.
The young woman testified she saw Phil Dennis Clayborne, Junior standing
over Dejesus holding a towel.
She says Clayborne then tried to strangle her before he forced her to hide
out in a motel with him.
Dejesus' body was found last July behind a home in Danville.
One of Clayborne's former cell mates also testified against him.

The former Babcock and Wilcox Fuel Company says it'll appeal a 12- thousand
dollar fine handed down by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission.
B and W, which changed its name to Framatome Technologies last month, was
cited for violations at its Lynchburg nuclear fuel facility.
The N-R-C says the company used improperly designed shipping packages, and
exceeded the amount of uranium allowed in its Lynchburg plant.
Framatome spokesman Judith Connell says the company does not believe any
health or safety issues were compromised.
An appeal must be filed within 30 days.
Workers at Rubatex in Bedford say if they can improve efficiency and quality
control, they MAY be rewarded with a sizeable plant renovation.
The rubber products maker had all of its shifts attend a mandatory meeting
today to discuss the plan.

(( Charles Tomlinson spent the morning answering telephone calls and faxing
information explaining how he's NOT REALLY DEAD.
The Roanoke Times obituaries reported yesterday that the musician turned
funeral home director died January 27th.
This isn't the first time the lively 60-year-old has been listed as deceased
in the Roanoke Times.
The first notice came out last November.
