A ski trip to Snowshoe Mountain Resort took a nasty turn for the worse this
A charter bus carrying about fifty students from the University of Florida,
skidded on an icy road and rolled down a fifty- foot embankment.

The accident happened around ten this morning on Route 219-- just south of
Marlinton in Pocahontas County, West Virginia.
More than forty of the passengers were taken to nearby hospitals.
One was taken to the trauma unit at the University of Virginia.
All of the victims are reported in stable condition tonight.

In Roanoke City officials are asking residents to park their cars in the
driveway or park on the even-numbered side of the street.
This will make it easier for plows to work residential streets.
Road crews in central Virginia are keeping a close eye on the skies and the
temperature gauge tonight.
Public works officials in Lynchburg say they actually got a break when it
began to sleet AFTER six inches of snow had already fallen.
Plows were able to keep the primary roads and most of the secondary roads
open during the day.
A break in the storm around mid- day also allowed them to administer a layer
of salt to many of the roads.. a move that should pay off later tonight.

Highway crews would like a LITTLE of that ice in the New River Valley.
Some sleet fell this afternoon, but officials say it probably wasn't enough
to pack the snow to prevent drifting.
A break in the storm did allow crews to clear primary roads and make good
