The death toll in the state from the weekend snow and ice storms now stands
at six.
In Giles County, a friend found the body of 46-year-old William Mullins on
Saturday in Mullins' front yard.
Mullins' body was covered with several inches of snow. The cause of death
was not immediately known.
Over in Hanover County, an elderly man died of a heart attack Sunday after
he finished shoveling snow.

A circuit judge says a Wythe County teenager will be tried as an adult in the
murder of a Sheriff's Deputy.
Christopher Sean Wheeler is charged with killing Cliff Dicker.

Dicker was shot in December of 1994 while trying to serve a juvenile
petition on Wheeler.

A juvenile judge ordered him transferred to adult court.
In appealing the ruling, Wheeler's lawyers argued he would have a better
chance at rehabilitation in the juvenile system.

Bryant Lymont Powell made a plea agreement yesterday, so prosecutors dropped
the murder charge.

In exchange, Powell pleaded guilty to robbery and abduction.
Powell had been charged with killing Angel Lewis DeJesus (de-Hay-seus) and
his trial was scheduled to begin today.
The 32- year victim was found dead behind a house of Stephens Street.

occupied home on patterson avenue.
Yesterday a Roanoke grand jury handed up indictments against Orren in
seven more arson cases in the same neighborhood.

The help came from Virginia Tech student Michael Nunn and his 15- year- old
brother Kevin.
Without hesitation, the brothers darted across the lawn, entered the burning
house, and pulled Doyle to safety.
Kevin Nunn did not realize his efforts were considered heroic.
He says he was just trying to help out a friend in trouble.

In Giles County, the body of 46-year-old William Mullins was found on
Saturday covered with SEVERAL inches of snow.
The cause of death was NOT immediately known.
In Hanover County, an elderly man died of a heart attack Sunday AFTER he
finished shoveling snow.
The records lows are also record demands for electricity.
American Electric Power customers in Virginia, West Virginia and Tennessee
set a new peak of six-thousand-908 mega-watts at nine a-m yesterday.
In the meantime, the weather is being blamed for power outages and water
main breaks, in addition to all kinds of other problems.

gutted their home near Evington.
