water.
Officials say they've spotted several life rafts, and at least eight bodies.
The Coast Guard says the downed plane was en route from Puerto Plata,
Dominican Republic, to Gander, Newfoundland.
The plane is identified as a Boeing 757 that belonged to Alas (uh-LAHS')
airlines.

He has supervised several digs throughout the county.
However, police say from 1990 to 1994 Russ worked with a maintenance worker

undercover officers to come to Lexington where he was arrested.

He fled on foot into a nearby apartment complex, where tracking dogs were
unable to pick up his trail.

Three Danville police officers are facing a lawsuit by a man who says he was
beaten by two of the officers while he was handcuffed.
He says the third officer encouraged it.

Sam Sakellaris supplied his attorney with these pictures allegedly taken the
night of the incident.
He says it all happened when he was pulled over during a traffic stop two
years ago.
The suit names Officers L-M Adkins and L-R Kennedy.
Sakellaris says Lieutenant J-C Lewis was standing by.
His attorney believes Sakellaris was targeted because he was a witness to
another case of alleged police brutality a number of years ago.

resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.
The charges were later dismissed.

Manslaughter charges have been filed against a Campbell County teenager for
his role in a FATAL accident last month.

67- year- old Betty Blackburn Campbell died when her car was struck
broadside at the intersection of Wards Road and Harvard Street in Lynchburg.
Police say 19- year- old Andrew Viar ran a red light and crashed into
Campbell's vehicle.
Viar has been charged with involuntary manslaughter.
He was released on his own recognizance shortly after his arrest this week.
