Two Radford University fraternities are suspended after the weekend death of

Radford University suspended the two fraternities while the investigation
18 year- old Valerie Cole was found dead in her dorm room Saturday morning.
Officials say she went to two parties Friday night hosted by (KIE-FI) Chi
Phi and (PIE kappa phi) Pi Kappa Phi fraternities.
During the investigation, officials say they found evidence that both
groups had VIOLATED the Inter-fraternity Council's alcohol rules.

Officials could not say whether Cole consumed any alcohol at either party.
It will be a couple of weeks before blood tests reveal whether her death
was alcohol- related.
The national offices of both fraternities have also suspended their
Radford charters pending the outcome of the investigation.
Virginia Tech police are also awaiting toxicology reports to determine how
to proceed in their investigation of a graduate student found dead on THAT
The body of 26 year- old Theresa Gillespie was found inside a locked,
fenced-in R-O-T-C repelling area yesterday.
No one had seen her since Saturday, when she had dinner at Maxwell's in
Blacksburg with her husband and friends.

Steven Leftwich, the man accused of attacking two Roanoke City Police
Officers and a State Trooper made a second court appearance today--facing new
This time police say they found drugs during his arrest.

Jean, Leftwich was charged Sunday with assault and malicious wounding.
However, police went to the magistrate again YESTERDAY and filed two new
charges of possession of marijuana and another charge of malicious wounding.

It all started 3:30 Sunday morning when William Hayden was pulled over for a

Police say Leftwich fought with them and also grabbed an officer's gun.

The Roanoke Academy of Medicine represents about 550 physicians.
Scientists believe they've found the brain's stopwatch.
It's the so-called interval timer, which Duke researchers say allows humans
to juggle a bunch of different timing issues at once, such as boiling an egg,
brewing coffee and making toast.
The discovery has no practical use for now. But scientists hope it will lead
to better treatments for Parkinson's Disease and brain damaged patients.

The legal battle between actress Joan Collins and her book publisher is
