One eye closed shut, limping and with a swollen face... he alleges Roanoke City Police Officers beat him without cause.
However, police contend Leftwich attacked two officers and a trooper during a traffic stop.
The incident happened Sunday morning on Campbell Avenue around 3:30.
The driver, Leftwich's cousin William Hayden says the police pulled him over for a broken taillight.
He says during the stop police ordered Leftwich out of the passenger seat to question him.
Hayden says that's when the beating began.
We attempted unsuccessfully to speak with one of the officers identified by Leftwich as being involved in the altercation.
