A Martinsville teacher who allegedly took indecent liberties with a former female student had the chance to retire BEFORE the charge was presented to a grand jury.
But prosecutors say 59- year old Anna Corbin did not follow through with the arrangement.
Corbin was a fifth grade teacher at Albert Harris Elementary school for 33- years.

Commonwealth's Attorney Randy Smith says he wanted to indict in November, but held off until February.

A Lynchburg insurance agent has pled GUILTY in a complex scheme of banking and investment fraud that netted him well over TWO million dollars.

Stephen Michael Phelps admitted everything, and has cooperated FULLY with investigators.
The 51- year- old former agent for the Equitable Life Assurance Society ripped off 11 clients- -including his in-laws, forged his wife's name on fraudulent bank loan applications, and set himself up in a lavish lifestyle.
Phelps managed to conceal his creative accounting for nearly a decade.

Yesterday, a judge in Lewisburg refused to order a new trial or release her while she appeals.
