Giles County rescue authorities are investigating a drowning death in
Officials say a young female plunged 40 feet from a bridge over the New
River shortly before 4-30 this afternoon.
The body has been spotted from a helicopter three-quarters of a mile
downstream, lodged on a small island.
The body is in an area accessible only by boat or helicopter.
State Police divers were unable to retrieve the body tonight.

An F-14 fighter jet has crashed in the Pacific Ocean, killing two
The Tomcat went down this afternoon about 30 miles west of San Clemente
It was based at Miramar Naval Air Station near San Diego.
The identities of those killed have not been released.
It's the second fighter jet to crash in three weeks.
Just last month an F-14 slammed into a residential neighborhood in
