General Assembly committees adopted budget amendments that significantly BOOST spending for the state's public universities.

They're trying to determine if there was anything wrong with a signal that should have slowed one of the trains to a safer speed.

Eleven people died Friday night when a commuter train crashed into an Amtrak outside of Washington D-C.

He faces a capital murder charge.

Lilly's brother, Mark Anthony, and Gary Wayne Barker also face charges.

((A viewer from Vinton sent us a letter saying: "I am a student at National Business College and writing in response to the segment...regarding eligibility of students at National Business College for the Tuition Assistance Grant
(TAG). I was surprised to hear Dr. Harry Nickens, President of the College of

Health Sciences, speak against giving TAG to students attending National. Dr. Nickens' interest in not wanting me and my fellow students to receive TAG is strange, particularly since his college charges more tuition than National, and I see that he still wants the state to give him $1 million just to keep his college afloat. Maybe he should pay more attention to running his college and stay out of our business."
We also heard from a younger viewer from Vinton about our Mornin' program.
"I am very pleased with your morning broadcast. It is very interesting. You combine news, weather, sports and community spirit in one program which equals a good quality program. I am always interested in what is happening around town, so your program is the "Must Watch" for me."
