A bad day just got worse for a Lynnhurst man when a court date resulted in a
high speed chase that injured a Nelson County sheriff's deputy.
Sheriff Ronald Wood says it began when 30-year-old Edward Stinnett stole his
sister's car to go to court, where he faced charges of assaulting his wife.
But before the hearing, Stinnett allegedly made a run for it and stole
another car after learning his bond might be revoked.
A high speed chase ensued down Route 29 and ended 25 miles away, when a
deputy pulled Stinnett over.
But Stinnett allegedly ran again, jumping over a guardrail.
Sergeant Robert Crews jumped too, but slipped 70 feet down a ravine.
Crews is in stable condition.
Stinnett was later found walking down a road in Augusta County.
He's charged with grand larceny, and failure to appear in court. Other
charges are pending.
