The U-S has released transcripts of communications between ground
controllers and Cuban fighter pilots.
They show the Cuban pilots knew they were shooting down light, unarmed
planes over the weekend.

Meanwhile several Congressmen are calling on the President to take more
action against Cuba.
It was Saturday that Cuban fighters shot down the two civilian planes.
There's still some question over whether yesterday's car crash in Israel
was an accident or an act of terrorism.
Jerusalem police today tried to reconstruct the scene- to figure out how a
car crashed into people waiting at a bus stop.
The driver was shot and killed by onlookers.
First there was a declaration the incident was a deliberate attack, then
word that the driver had tried to stop.
Now police are saying they haven't ruled anything out.
One person was killed and two dozen injured in the crash.

Witnesses say the car was headed west when the driver apparently lost
control and spun across the median.
The car slammed into a truck from Alabama.
The driver of the rig walked away from the crash.
Rescue crews had to cut both victims from the car.

A Franklin County woman is in the hospital tonight after her five year old
son apparently shot her by accident last night.

Authorities say it happened at this trailer on route 760 in the Henry
community at about 8:15.
Investigators say the boy's parents were living together-- but had
The boy's father, Lowell Rector, was talking with the mother, Belinda
Sink outside a truck.
Authorities say their son was inside the truck with a loaded 22- caliber
rifle, when it went off.
A bullet struck Sink in the chest.
She was airlifted to Roanoke Memorial Hospital, where her family has asked
that her condition NOT be released.
Authorities are still investigating.
No charges have been filed.
Voters are out in Arizona and the Dakotas.
They're casting their ballots in the Republican Presidential primaries.

Some good news for an area that's trying to create more jobs.
The Vaughan Furniture Company of Galax will put a multi-million dollar plant
in Patrick County.
The company expects to have 300 employees within two and a half years.
The plant will go in the county's new industrial park.
When Ronald McDonald decided to set up shop in one Roanoke County
neighborhood, not everyone was pleased, but now the McDonalds says thank you to

The most extensive study ever of women with breast implants makes a direct
link between the implants and a higher risk for disease.
Some researchers say it shows once and for all that the implants DO pose a
health risk for connective tissue diseases like rheumatoid arthritis.
Maker Dow Chemical, which is being sued by thousands of women with
implants, downplays the findings.
The findings are reported in the latest edition of the Journal of the
American Medical Association.
One third of Americans suffer from obesity-- meaning they are 30
percent over their ideal body weight.
As many have learned, societal pressures have made the battle of the bulge
a heavy load.
