Good Evening, this is NEWS-7 at Five, I'm Jean Jadhon.

At least 13 people were killed in this latest bombing.

The force will have the right, he says, to strike anywhere.

((Police now say the bomber was on foot. He triggered his deadly charge at one
of Tel Aviv's busiest streetcorners, just outside the city's biggest downtown
shopping mall.
Sidewalks and stores were full of pedestrians and afternoon shoppers... blast,
shrapnel and flying glass tore through the crowds among those struck, children
in costume, on their way to celebrations of a Jewish festival, Purim.
Rescue crews raced to the scene, fighting to save lives, evacuating the
wounded to hospital.
Passersy gave what help and comfort they could.
Islamic radicals have now carried out four deadly attacks in nine days,
killing well over 50 people, and at this hour the death toll still seems sure
to rise.
(SHIMON PERES/ISRAELI PRIME MINISTER, PARAPHRASED, WE WILL SURVIVE THIS)
Soon after the attack, embattled Prime Minister Shimon Peres was calling on
Israelis not to lose faith.
He insisted PLO Chief Yasser Arafat had to keep his end of the peace bargain.
And Arafat promised to work with israel to uproot terrorism, roundly
condemning the attack and the attackers, though his actions thus far have been
less convincing than his words.
As Israelis gathered at the site of the blast, Peres gathered his cabinet for
an emergency session.
Yesterday he declared what he called total war against the extremists.
Today's attack seems to be their mocking reply. Israelis are crying out for
tough action now.
