One man is dead and another in custody today after a shooting in Halifax County last night.
Authorities say an argument apparently led to the fatal shooting.
They say 33- year old Anthony Meadows was shot once in the upper chest with what appeared to be a small caliber gun.
He died at the hospital.
Sheriff's deputies arrested 26- year old Barry Dwight Thomas, Junior of South Boston.
He's been charged with first degree murder.
The shooting happened around 10- 30 at a mobile home East of Turbeville
(TUR-ba-ville).

A New York man was convicted this morning of attempted murder for firebombing a New York subway.
Edward Leary admitted he placed bombs on trains in December of 1994, but claimed he was taking prescription drugs that made him insane.
Prosecutors argued Leary knew what he was doing.

While Methodist choir members in Roanoke County were going through their lyrics, a theif was going through their belongings.
Authorities say three United Methodist churches have been hit in the last three weeks, apparently by the same person.
More than a half-dozen choir members at Bonsack United Methodist Church were victimized Sunday.
As choir members sang during the morning service, someone entered the choir room, rifled through purses and took a wallet from a man's jacket.
Two church members reported seeing a man leaving the building and getting into a small white car.
The description matched that of a man seen at two other churches.
