Ripple effects from the plant have halted most of G-M's North American
A train jumped the tracks in Oklahoma and caught fire-
Two tanker cars of de-natured alcohol went up in flames- forcing 15 hundred
people to evacuate in a one mile radius.
Denatured alcohol is used in paint remover. It's non- toxic, but school was
cancelled and homes evacuated just in case.

Roanoke County School Board members say they've done their best to see that
all parts of the county benefit from capital improvements.
Today, they called for the entire county to rally around the proposed bond
issue that will pay for a new Cave Spring High School.

The 22 year old who led police on a chase from Bedford to Roanoke on March
fifth, will not be tried in Roanoke.
Shawn Michael Love was scheduled for trial in Roanoke May 13th for
attempted malicious wounding, reckless driving, and failure to stop for a
But today those charges were dropped.
Love will instead face the charges of murder in Prince George County and
robbery in Lynchburg and Amherst County.
A Southside family says they can't describe the pain they feel over the
disappearance of their teenage daughter.

Lalonia Garcia last saw her step-daughter as she was leaving for school
Annie Marie Garcia was a sophomore at George Washington High School.

Tuberculosis is now the world's leading infectious killer-- claiming a
record three million lives last year.
The spread of the airborne disease has been helped by several factors,
including the virus that causes AIDS-- and a resistance to some drugs.
The World Health Organization says attention to tuberculosis waned in the
1950's-- when effective drug treatments became available.

France announced today it banned the import of beef and live cattle from
Britain-- because of a resurgence of so-called "Mad Cow Disease."
It's a neurological disease that's been affecting cattle herds in
England-- it's similar to a fatal human brain disease.
The British government has denied that the disease could be transferred
from beef to people.
It now appears as many as ten people may have contracted the human
variation-- and likely got it from eating infected meat.
The risk though of getting the human disease-- called C-J-D-- is being
downplayed by the government.

Inside Britain, schools in five counties have stopped buying beef.
Researchers in this country have discovered a new hormone called M-C-H--
that may account for a large part of the impulse to overeat.

Of all the fat hormones discovered to date, MCH has the closest

Researchers also found, the higher the amount of MCH found in the brain,
