An attorney representing Virginia Tech football player Tony Morrison says
Christy BrzonKALA has failed to make a federal case against his client.
Brzonkala claims Morrison and James Crawford raped her in September of 1994.
She filed an eight- million dollar lawsuit claiming that Tech and the two
football players violated her civil rights.
But in a brief filed this afternoon, Morrison's attorney argues the case
does not belong in federal court.
Under the Violence Against Women Act, Chris Floyd says, Brzon-KALA must
prove she was a victim of a crime motivated by gender.
In this case, he writes, there is no evidence the alleged rape was the
result of a "class- based hatred of women."
