Engine problems forced a pilot to make an emergency landing in the Valley View Mall parking lot.
It happened around seven last night.
And amazing enough the plane's two occupants walked away from the crash uninjured.

One person is dead and three others injured following an automoblie accident on Route 2-20 in Franklin County yesterday.

Eighty-Five year old Helen Louise Nolen died when the car she was riding in was struck on the passenger side.
Police say Nolen was with 71 year old Ruth Hash Jones who apparently turned into the path of a car being driven by William Edward Maxwell of Rocky Mount.
Lifeguard 10 transported Nolen to Roanoke Memorial Hospital where she later died.
Jones, Maxwell, and another passenger are listed in stable condition at R-M-H.
The accident is still under investigation.

And there was another fatal accident yesterday, this one in Wythe County.
Police say 28 year old Paul David Mathews of Ivanhoe was traveling north on Route 94 when his vehicle crossed into the southbound lane and struck a pickup truck.
The two people in the truck, Albert and Dorothy Jones, were taken to the hospital, where they are listed in stable condition.

Investigators say a fire at a condemned house and neighboring trailer in Roanoke County appears to be suspicious.

Apparently a couple who lived in the trailer had been evicted.
While moving yesterday the couple told investigators they came to the trailer and found their furniture on fire in the yard.
Gillespie says he also has suspects in that incident.
There's no word on whether the two incidents are related.

U-Mass had a 79-to-63 win over Arkansas, while Georgetown beat Texas Tech 98-to-90.
Tomorrow's Midwest Finals pit Kentucky against Wake Forest.
Kentucky routed Utah 101-to-70, while Wake Forest beat the Cardinals 60-to-59.

The dialogue is clever and lively. The acting is excellent, except for the actor playing Val--Armand's son--he comes across as a whiny wimp.
"The Birdcage" gets an "A-" for its wonderful writing and its sympathetic, believable and very funny characters.))

A six- month investigation of a Roanoke dog grooming business has failed to turn up enough evidence to support criminal prosecution.

Hospital officials in Martinsville say there was no malicious intent when the hospital conducted a security drill in January.
In a news release, they say they are saddened by the fact employees have decided to take legal action.

Early on January 25th, five masked gunmen entered the emergency room at Memorial Hospital where they took nurses and other employees hostage.
It was a security drill, but now four nurses who say they were traumatized have sworn out criminal warrants against the participants.

But all that will be thrown out in deference to much more serious charges in Central and Eastern Virginia.
