A Roanoke man was shot and killed tonight by police officers responding to a

off his property.
When they said they intended to take him into custody, police say, he raised
a loaded rifle.

Plunkett did not fire his weapon... but police did confirm the hunting rifle
was loaded with a single cartridge. Cheif Hooper confirmed that officers had
been to the home before.

investigation is complete.

In New Hampshire the bodies of two hikers were recovered from their snowy
graves this afternoon.
The victims were caught in an avalance on Mount Washington.

The Bosnian government freed more than a hundred P-O-W's from a jail in
Tuzla last night.
The release of 109 men is only part of the government's obligations under
the Dayton peace accord.
The agreement required all P-O-W's to be released by January 19.
Although hundreds were set free, more than 150 had been held back in
violation of the peace agreement.

Gates is giving his career a fresh look.
He and his wife Nina Kent, who's also a make up artist, moved to Russell
County and started a film company.
They say they'll start their first production, a psychological thriller
called "For Better or Worse" this summer.
