A Roanoke man was shot and killed tonight by police officers responding to a
domestic dispute.
Police say 35- year- old Edwin Plunkett threatened the officers with a
loaded rifle before they fired the fatal shots.

beaten.

In New Hampshire the bodies of two hikers were recovered from their snowy
graves this afternoon.
The victims were caught in an avalance on Mount Washington.
The avalanche happened at a popular hiking and skiing area near the
mountain's summit.
Officials say three people were swept 500 feet down the mountain... one
escaped.

Carolina.
Hooker officials expect to double employment at C-M Furniture to 250 people
by next year.

employees are working overtime.

The end of the G-M strike is good news for employees of Kingston-Warren in
Wytheville.
About 260 workers have been on furlough since the strike forced the plant to
shut down March eleventh.

Maroon coach Bill Pilat's team was chosen 5th in the country pre season and
his troops would prove worthy of the ranking.
Senior Billy Metz led all Maroon scorers with 3 goals and 1 assist. He
registers this goal which gave Roanoke a 6-3 advantage with about 11 minutes to
go in the third quarter.
J.D. Gattie put Roanoke up by 4 goals SUPER=34-Roanoke/=14/Clarkson/==8;
just a couple of minutes later. The Maroons would exploded in the fourth
quarter for 6 more goals.
Jeff Jones tallied 2 on the day and is averaging 4.5 points per game.
Roanoke wins 14-8 to rebound from last weeks loss to Washington College.

fight.

The parade is just part of the team's star treatment.
On Tuesday, Danville Mayor Seward Anderson honored the UNBEATEN state champs
and their coaches during City Council.
Team members were given a standing ovation and Mayor Anderson proclaimed
Wednesday March 20th-- G-W Danville Eagles Boys Basketball team day.
