He is expected to add more delegates today to his leading total for the

A five acre brush fire in Roanoke County today caught forestry officials by
It started around one this afternoon in the Starkey Road area.
A local resident says he accidentally started the blaze by dumping hot ashes
in a nearby ravine. Forestry officials say despite the recent rain and
snow, fire safety is crucial at this time of year.

Fire officials say the blaze is now under control and there's NO threat to

An electrical malfunction may have sparked a blaze that heavily damaged a
Lynchburg home this morning.
Firefighters arrived at 5-16 Stuart Street to find smoke and flames coming
from the left side of the single- story building.
Crews held off fighting the fire while they searched the house for potential
No one was home, and it took firefighters about 15- minutes to bring the
blaze under control.
Authorities believe the fire started in a basement fuse box.
Testimony from a terrifed wife along with the defendant's violent criminal
history convinced a judge in Carroll County to deny bond for Dennis Earl
Stoneman is charged with captial murder in the death of his wife's sister
and brother in law, Tina and Steve Quesenberry.
Stoneman wanted to return to his home in North Carolina to await trial, in
order to salvage his produce business that's been neglected since his arrest.
His wife, Teresa Stoneman testified he beat her repeatedly during their 16
year marriage and even threatened her with a gun.
Judge Duane Mink denied Stoneman's requst for bond on the basis of his
criminal past, incliuding convictions of rape and sodomy and his limited ties

First Citizens of Raleigh says its newest branch in Blacksburg will have

The new office will be located in the Harris Teeter supermarket that opens
First Citizens plans to put several more in-store branches in this area

The newest help for smokers comes in a pump-spray bottle.
The nicotine nasal inhalant has won approval from the F-D-A.
It's designed to help hard-core smokers kick the habit.
Smokers can already get prescriptions for nicotine patches, and
starting next month, they can buy nicotine gum without a prescription.
The nasal spray is more powerful, hitting the bloodstream faster.
The spray will be sold under the name Nicotrol N-S.
The makers of the drug Ritalin have started a campaign to fight abuse of
That, following reports that some kids are using the hyperactivity
treatment to get high.
Ciba Pharmaceuticals worries some are buying or stealing the drug from
classmates, and snorting or injecting it.
They're calling it the vision of the future.

Jean, Bedford has a lot to be proud of in the sporting world this year.
In a parade of champions, the city is honoring the Liberty High School
Minutemen boys basketball players.
They are the newly- crowned Group Double- A state champions.
The parade starts in a half- hour at Bedford Middle School-- and will
proceed down Main Street to City Hall.
