Three University of Virginia students who challenged the state Republican
party's convention system will have another day in court.
A U-S Supreme Court ruling will allow them to pursue their claim.
The students had challenged a 45 dollar fee the state G-O-P charged
delegates to the 1994 state convention.
They argued the fee amounted to a poll tax, a violation of federal voting
Today, the supreme court ruled the state political parties must get federal
approval before charging a fee.
The ruling did not address the merits of the law students' lawsuit, but it
cleared the way for another hearing in a state court.
