The Roanoke County Board of Supervisors gave its stamp of approval last night to the largest planned residential development in County history.
It rezoned 315 acres near the Blue Ridge Parkway.
The vote should clear the way for a development that could include more than a thousand residential units by the year 2020.

In Danville, a lot of public opinion over economic development.
Last night Southside residents got together to respond to a lengthy study designed to carry the area into the 21st Century.
The document was the work of volunteers from Danville, Pittsylvania County and Caswell County, North Carolina.

A Danville judge has dismissed charges against a Texas man because of problems with a volunteer interpreter who helped police question the suspect. Attorneys for 20-year-old Jose Benitez (Bay- KNEE -tez) successfully argued yesterday that the interpreter didn't properly inform Benitez of his right to remain silent and his right to an attorney.
The interpreter, Carl Goforth, testified he doesn't speak fluent Spanish and that he encouraged Benitez (Bay- KNEE -tez) to cooperate with police.
Benitez (Bay- KNEE -tez) was charged with the transportation of and possession of 62 pounds of marijuana.
