One woman did survive the actual crash but then died on the way to the hospital.

That was CBS' Byron Harlan. Ron Brown died far from home in the military version of a Boeing 737 which--as a civilian plane-- experienced two unexplained crashes recently. But the jet Brown was in had no so-called black box adding difficulty to what will already be a tough investigation.

Patrick Brunson of Floyd County today lost his two-million dollar lawsuit against Spine Surgeon, Dr. Eric Korsh.
Brunson claimed Korsh performed unnecessary fusion surgery on his back-- all for his own financial gain.
The jury apparently, did not agree.

Both sides speculate that the relationship between Brunson and Korsh may have had some impact on the jury.
The two were friends, until a horse venture went under-- Korsh eventually dropped a lawsuit against Brunson to recoup money-- before this suit was filed.
There was also this video that the defense hired a private investigator to make-- in it, Brunson is seen working on his Copper Hill horse farm-- doing just what he'd been saying he could no longer do.

The F-B-I searched the home of 53 year old Ted Kazinksy- but so far they have not charged him with anything.

Firefighters are still on the scene of a fire that heavily damaged a home in downtown Lynchburg.

The first crews arrived to find heavy smoke and flames coming from the back of the two-story structure.

The Martinsville Speedway was hopping yesterday as nine Winston Cup drivers tuned up for this month's Goody's 500.

(( Sterling Marlin, DW, Michael Waltrip, Bobby Labonte and the man in black headlined the menagerie of Ford and Chevy drivers turning hot lap at the track.
But wait a minute, that's not Earnhardt driving that black Chevy - thats' Jeff Gordon. ((JEFF GORDON/THREE WINS IN 1996:))
Black cars and unusual parking spots were all part of the test. Darrell Waltrip, who hasn't won in 3 years, but has 11 career wins at Martinsville pitted his Chevy in Victory lane, hoping it can find its way back there on April 21st.

The Roanoke Maroons topped the Lynchburg Hornets 15-6 yesterday in a crucial ODAC lacrosse contest.

Lynchburg coach and former Roanoke All-American Brett Smith was reunited with his former coach, Roanoke's Bill Pilat.
The reunion went sour though as the maroons got 7 points from super soph Keith Wempe. He scored 4 and had 3 assists.
The Hornets pulled to within 3, 9-6. Brian Catney fires this shot past Roanoke goalie Chris Gordon.

Maroon senior Billy Metz tallied 4 goals as well on the day. Roanoke goes to 5 and 2 while Lynchburg falls to 1 and 9.
