((A search of Theodore Kaczynski's hand built 10 by 12 foot mountian shack turned up chemicals, meticulous notes on making explosives and a partially assembled pipe bomb. Kaczynski, 53, a Harvard graduade, former Berkeley math professor and now the suspected infamous Unabomber was charged in federal court with possessing the bomb components and ordered held without bail.
The charge made no mention of the alleged Unabomber's string of bombing attacks which killed three people and injured 23 others over the course of 18 years. The charge was designed to hold Kaczynski while federal agents build a detailed case.
JANET RENO/U.S. ATTORNEY GENERAL:

Kaczynski, thin and seemingly calm, told U.S. District Judge Charles Lovell that he was mentally competant and couldn't afford his own lawyer.
Federal officials say two manual typewriters have been found in the cabin. The Unabomber sent many typed messages over the years and investigators want to see if the imprints match up.
There are 40 boxes that investigators are x-raying before opening, suspecting that the packages may contain explosives.
A former classmate of Kacyznski's told a Chicago newspaper that even as a teenager Kaczynski made bombs with household products and metal garbage cans.
In Lincoln, Kacyzinski was known as the 'hermit on the hill and residents agree that this isolated Montana town is a good place to hideout - until now.
