Roanoke officials are making some changes in the plan to inspect rental housing.

The changes are the result of a workshop the city held recently for landlords and tenants.
The revised plan calls for the city to provide inspections in designated neighborhoods on a routine schedule.
The goal would be to have each rental unit inspected at least once every two years.
The city also wants to encourage property owners to take part in the scheduled inspection program, by providing the first inspection and the next two at no charge, if the rental unit passes.
The city will hold another workshop on the plan Monday night.
