Delta Airlines flight 1-9-9-7 bound for Los Angeles from New York's J-F-K
airport had to make an emergency landing last night at Chicago's O'Hare airport
after the plane received several bomb threats.
All 175 passengers were evacuated from the Delta L10-11 while the plane was
searched by tactical teams and bomb sniffing dogs.
Delta officials say they received three separate calls on their reservation
line by a woman with a European accent.

A New Jersey family was flying to Blacksburg yesterday, to check out the
Virginia Tech Campus.
But their single engine plane ran out of fuel...forcing them to land in a
field.

Sunshine and temperatures in the 70s over the past couple of days are a
reminder of what a beautiful time of year this is in Southwest Virginia.
And each Friday in April we're going to highlight a special place where you
can enjoy spring and the nicer weather to the fullest.
We'll begin with the Glenwood Horse Trail, which winds through the Roanoke
Valley.
It took years of planning and a lot of volunteer work to build the trail.
It's now open for everyone to enjoy.
I recently got a chance to explore part of the trail with some of the people
who helped build it.

Two jail inmates say an Amherst County man admitted he killed two women last
year.

The bodies of Robin Jeanette Burge and Jacqueline Dorsey Carter were
discovered a month apart in remote sections of Amherst County.
44 year old James Henry Burley was arrested after police searched his home
and recovered the gun used to kill both women.
At a preliminary hearing yesterday, two of Burley's fellow inmates say he
confessed to the murders.
One inmate hopes his testimony will help get him out of jail, but the other
says he just wants to do the right thing.

Firefighters from three departments spent yesterday afternoon battling a
blaze that destroyed a Campbell County home.

Crews from Concord, Rustburg and Appomattox responded to the blaze on Mount
Athos Road.
The single-story log cabin was engulfed in flames when they got there.

The fire also spread to the nearby woods, scorching about five acres before
a helicopter dumping water could contain it.
No one was home when the blaze broke out.
Campbell County authorities are investigating.
