High flying Israeli jets and helicopter gunships buzzed Beiruit this morning, but no fresh bombing missions were observed.

Meantime, Israeli police are investigating a strong explosion that rocked a hotel in mostly Palestinian east Jerusalem this morning.
One person was seriously wounded.
The cause of the explosion is NOT clear, but Israeli radio reports police think the wounded person may have been making a bomb.
The explosion happened in a third-floor room of the Lawrence Hotel on the main east Jerusalem Road.

The program started eight years ago, with instructors teaching all the details of flying.

The driver apparently lost control of his car and struck a telephone pole.

As a talented artist, (cor-NELL-yoo bru-DOSH-koo) Corneliu Brudascu made a name for himself in his native country.
Now the Romanian painter is finding favor on THIS side of the Atlantic.
Joe Dashiell spoke with this artist, as he prepared for today's opening at a Roanoke gallery.

For several weeks, the Romanian artist has been at his easel here, preparing for a show that begins Friday night at Roanoke's Gallery Three.

A painter for more than 40 years, Brudascu is well-known in his own country.
He reached a wide audience only after the fall of the communist regime there and he says it was a liberating experience.

For some Romanian artists Brudascu says freedom came too late.
But he is thankful to be hre, cathcing up on the artistic movements he missed and bringing his work to an appreciative audience in another part of the world.
