Alcohol IS a factor in an accident that happened a couple hours later in Roanoke County.
The car, driven by 41- year- old Charles Moore, went over the embankment at Harris' Curve at the base of Bent Mountain.
Moore and his passenger, 45- year- old Francis Baker Junior of Roanoke were transported to Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
Both are in serious condition.
Police say alcohol is a factor in the accident.
Charges are pending.

State Police say excessive speed was to blame for a fatal tractor trailer accident yesterday on Interstate 81.
The accident happened two miles north of the Christiansburg exit just before 6:30 last night.
State Police say the truck crossed the median and both the north and southbound lanes of traffic before striking an embankment.
The driver of the tractor trailer suffered major head injuries--he was pronounced dead a few hours later at Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
His name is not being released until his relatives are notified...state police say he is NOT from Virginia.

In Arkansas, a tornado tore through a campground late last night killing seven people and injuring 30 others.

Funeral services are set for today for seven-year-old Jessica Dubroff, whose plane crashed Thursday as she tried to become the youngest pilot to cross the continent.
The funeral for child pilot Jessica Dubroff is today in her hometown of Pesacadero, California.
Dateline N-B-C reports her nine-year-old brother, who also took flying lessons, may fly over the funeral procession.

We really enjoyed the segment on the band, and were impressed by reporter Melanie Moon's knowledge of the group...We know we can count on WDBJ for the latest news, sports and weather information, but it was great to see a feature on the lighter side, and one from a Christian perspective.

A viewer from Blacksburg wants more coverage of professional soccer.
I was very disturbed when I saw your sports report did not include coverage of the first Major League Soccer game...I think it was an important game for area residents since many of D.C. United players and the coach came from UVA. Soccer is very important to me. Not only do I watch soccer, but I play soccer for the Blacksburg High School Girls Varsity soccer team. Soccer deserves to receive attention because it's the number one sport in the world.
