The twin engine plane went down...
killing both people aboard.
The flight that originated in Greenville South Carolina crash landed near
Route 738 at Callaway.
Authorities have not yet identified the victims or established a cause for

Two people were killed this afternoon when their plane crashed in a wooded
area of Franklin county.
Kimberly McBroom has been following the story all evening-- and joins us

State police are contacting their relatives tonight-- and are not
releasing their names.
All we know at this point is that both the pilot and his passenger were
from out- of -state.
Authorities say the pilot was certified, and had many hours of experience
under his belt.

Holt's home is located only a few hundred yards away from where the single-
engine experimental aircraft plunged from the sky-- killing both people on

Authorities heard a little after four P-M that the plane had disappeared
from the radar and lost radio contact with the Roanoke Regional Airport.

But it was a passer- by who discovered the wreckage two hours later off
Route 738, also known as Rockland Road.

The cause of the crash remains unknown at this time-- both F-A-A
officials and members of the National Transportation Safety Board have been
called in to assist.
And Jean, authorities tell us that it's been around 15 years since the
last plane crash in Franklin County.

believe the weather may have played a role?)
Well, there was a lot of wind and rain in the area. Officials aren't
saying, though if the weather could be a cause.
They're still investigating the possibilities.
The Ebola virus has turned up in two Monkeys in Texas.

Democrats called for a vote two weeks ago to increase the wage by ninety
cents. That would bring the minimum wage from 4.25 an hour to five dollars and
fifteen cents an hour.

the Governor is doing an excellent or good job.
That's his highest score ever in one of our polls.

And that bunch's approval rating actually jumped seven points over last
Suffolk Republican Robert Nelms apparently did a good job of making the
public aware of a law that protects legislators from arrest during the session.
Nelms used it to get an indecent exposure charge dismissed lat week.
Should lawmakers be immune from such arrests?
No according to 73- percent of those polled.
14 percent say the law's okay.
Less arresting for the public has been the Governor's lonely fight against
federal Goals 2000 money.
Allen says it will mean too much federal control.
Leading Democrats say the state should accept the almost seven million
dollars it's due.
We asked you.
49- percent say yes -- the state should accept the money.
28- percent say no -- the Governor's right.
And a significant 23- percent say they still don't know.

Six Virginia Military Institute cadets are suspended- Nine others
disciplined for attacking a fellow classmate last weekend.
Officials at V-M-I say the 15 cadets --all freshmen-- allegedly held down
Cadet Jason Smith and tried to shave his head.
They also sprayed a chemical balm on his genitals.
Smith dislocated his shoulder in the incident.
Officials say Smith had missed a "Rat Line" event because of medical
problems and the freshman cadets retaliated.

Brendles will close its last two stores in Virginia.
The North Carolina retailer is shutting down its Christiansburg store and
the one at Tanglewood Mall in Roanoke County. It's part of a restructuring.
In all, Brendles will close 18 stores.
The company also filed for bankruptcy for the second time in three years.
Brendles says this is part of a plan to re-position the company's remaining
The last time Brendles was in bankruptcy it closed its Lynchburg and Valley
View Mall stores.
A local land developer is out of the rough in Botetourt County.
Riley Overbay got the go-ahead to build a 300 home golf community between
Fincastle and Troutville.
The decision came from the county board of supervisors, that voted 3-1 to
rezone the land.
The 422-acre lot will be called Ashley Plantation, and will be one of the
largest subdivisions in the county.
Still a number of peple protested the plan at today's meeting.

David Wiley lives in Minneapolis now, but he says he's no stranger to the

Minneapolis less than a year.
