The man accused of running from police and killing a Vinton family during a car chase spoke from his jail cell today.
21-year-old Scott Carlton Allman is being held in the Roanoke County jail on three counts of manslaughter.

Keith, Scott Allman characterized himself as troubled, confused young man who is just misunderstood.

Allman cried throughout the interview saying he has led a terrible life.
The attention on him began this Sunday when he led police on a twelve mile high speed chase that ultimately claimed the life of a Vinton family and put Allman's wife, who was a passenger in his car, in the hospital.
I asked him why he ran from police.

Allman also cites an officer's claim that he wanted to check Allman's car to see if his windows were tinted too dark--and Allman thinks that was a poor excuse to begin a chase when he left the scene.

But at the same time Keith, during the phone interview Allman contradicted himself, and he says if he had to do all over again-- he would pull over.

A team of city leaders flew to Texas in January to present Lynchburg's incentive package for bringing Frito Lay to the Hill City.
While no official deal has been signed, Lynchburg apparently beat out several other localities in Virginia and West Virginia for the project. Ceremonies planned for next month could include a luncheon at Point of Honor where the company would make donations to several local charities.
