Divers found the body of a Henry County man missing since Saturday night.
Police say 43 year old Danny McMillan of Collinsville apparently drowned in
the Martinsville Reservoir.
Authorities were called in when McMillan failed to show up for work on
Police dogs tracked McMillian's scent to the water.
Divers found his body shortly after seven tonight.
Authorities say there were no signs of foul play.
A fire tonight in Elliston destroyed one home and damaged another.
Shortly after nine tonight firefighters were called to this home on Brake
They found one home fully involved with flame and another beginning to burn.
No one was there at the time and no one was injured; however, one of the
homes was destroyed.
The other had some water and smoke damage.
Fire officials don't know how the blaze started, but they've asked arson
investigators to look into the incident.
A huge increase in property tax drew a vocal crowd at a public hearing
tonight in Pittsylvania County.

(( The large crowd that gathered came as NO surprise to the Pittsylvania
County Board of Supervisors.
In preparing the 1996- 97 School and County Budget--- the board proposed
increasing the county real estate tax from 49- to 85 cents per 100- dollars of
County Administrator George Supensky admits an increase is needed.
And, although his recommendation is NOT as drastic, it still represents a
40- percent tax hike.
Supensky has recommended a 20- cent increase to meet an 86- million dollar

Radford City police began arresting 19 suspects today on a total of 44 drug
A grand jury handed up the indictments following a six- month investigation
that used police informants wired with recording devices.
Charges include distribution and possession of L-S-D, cocaine, crack,
marijuana and prescription drugs.

Suspect Kenny Tornes was wounded in a shootout with police and is being
treated at a local hospital.
Police later discovered his wife Glenda dead at their home.
Richmond officials won't say they have a serial killer at work.
But today city manager Robert Bobb likened a string of recent murders to the
time when "Southside Strangler" Timothy Spencer was still at large.
The F-B-I and State Police have now joined in on the probes of ten unsolved
murders-- two in the last two days.
The victims are all women over the age of 50.
Today, Richmond City Council authorized a ten-thousand dollar reward for
information leading to a conviction or convictions in the murders.

Richmond police are heading up what they're calling the Golden Years Task
But they are not releasing many details of the crimes.
One of the victims killed yesterday was the block captain of her
neighborhood crime-watch program.
The man accused of killing a Vinton couple and their infant while fleeing
from police faces up to 30 years in prison.
21-year old Scott Allman was advised by a judge of three counts of
in-voluntary manslaughter filed against him.
His preliminary hearing is set for May.
Allman is accused in the deaths of 36-year old Lori Mason, six week old
Joleen Faucher, and 34-year old Thomas Faucher.
Faucher's co-workers, who called him Fred, says he never had a problem on

The funeral for the crash victims is scheduled for later this week.
Allman told News 7 this is actually the second time he ran from police.
He says he was chased on foot and arrested by Roanoke County officers three
weeks ago because he had numerous outstanding warrants.
Allman says he was trying to avoid going to jail.
In the aftermath of that fatal crash in Roanoke County, many officers
throughout the region are taking a hard look at when and how to go after
someone in hot pursuit.

Kidder was taken to a psychiatric treatment center.
The 47 year old has been missing for three days- She was last seen at the
Los Angeles airport Saturday, but never got on her flight.
Police say they found no evidence of drugs or alcohol. They're trying to
determine if Kidder is a victim of a crime or whether she's mentally ill.
The only commercial bank based in the Roanoke Valley says its first year in
business was a good one.
Valley Bank told shareholders at its annual meeting that for now it will
concentrate increasing loans and deposits, rather than opening more branches.
