A 24- year- old woman was killed yesterday in a single- vehicle accident.
Patricia Ann White of Low Moor was driving along route 2-20, just south of
route 6-22 in Botetourt county.
Authorities say her car ran off the left side of the road, went over an
embankment, struck a tree, and overturned.
White was partially ejected from the vehicle-- and died at the scene.
Since thunderstorms were moving through the region at the time--
authorities believe the accident may have been weather- related.

Three fifth-graders at Heritage Elementary School in Lynchburg have been
suspended for a year for bringing marijuana to school.
Officials say the kids were not dealing or using the drugs, but the
chairman of the school board says the punishment is standard policy for drug
offenses in school.
Police were notified of the incident when it occurred in February -- but
prosecutors say NO charges have been filed against the children.

All of the candidates feel that funding should continue.

A Bedford couple who collected mementos of their archaeological trips to
Israel was stunned last week when U.S. Customs agents confiscated their
artifacts.
Customs officials acting on a request from the Israeli government seized
boxes of pottery fragments, ancient coins, glass and documents from Diane and
Gregory Hobson.
Israeli law prohibits the removal of any artifacts without permission.
Greg Hobson -- who describes himself as an avid amateur archaeologist --
says the items were collected from scrap heaps already sifted through by
researchers.
He guesses the mementos are worth no more than 300 dollars.

A Low Moor woman is dead following a single-vehicle accident yesterday.
24- year- old Patricia Ann White was driving along route 220, just south
of route 622 in Botetourt county.
Authorities say her car ran off the left side of the road, went over an
embankment, struck a tree, and overturned.
White was partially ejected from the vehicle-- and died at the scene.
Since thunderstorms were moving through the region at the time--
authorities believe the accident may have been weather- related.

After separate automobile and foot pursuits police found five of the alleged
culprits.
But three of them were a little hard to get to, since they had a pit bull
terrier with them.

So far five people have been charged with malicious wounding, two of them

Three fifth-graders who brought marijuana to Heritage Elementary School in
Lynchburg have been suspended for a year.
Officials say the kids were not dealing or using the drugs, but the
chairman of the school board says the punishment is standard policy for drug
offenses in school.
Police were notified of the incident when it occurred in February -- but
prosecutors say NO charges have been filed against the children.
