Two police officers who shot and killed a Roanoke man in March will not
face criminal charges.
Today, prosecutor Don Caldwell said he believes the two were justified in
their use of deadly force.

35 year old Edwin Plunkett was shot and killed on the night of March 24th.

Police officers were sent to the home on Cherry Hill Circle to investigate
a complaint of domestic abuse.
Plunkett had been drinking and he resisted the officers' attempts to arrest
him.
When Plunkett pulled a rifle from behind the front door, Caldwell says the
officers had reason to fear for their lives.

((It's a microscopic flaw in a part you don't usually see. But iit's giving a
massive hedache to a giant automaker, and leving million of customers
wondering if their car will burst into flames.

PROBLEM WITH THEIR VEHICLE IT'S A CONCERN.
Ford Motor Company has annouced an unprecedented recall.
It plans to notify
more than eight million car owners that their vehicles need to be fixed.
The problem is a in the ignition switches of cars and trucks Ford built between
1988 and 1993.
Ford says the cars can catch fire, even when they're not running. An Indiana
Fire investigator blames the switch for what happened to this man's car.

HOME, PEOPLE CAN DIE FROM IT.
The automaker obviously disagrees, contending the fire threat differs in
different models.
Terry Phillips: This is the largest recall by a singe auto maker. It'll cost
Ford more than 200 million dollars, but Ford says it is worth it to restore
consumer confidence and ultimately the bottom line.

The search continues tonight-
Danville police are looking for a suspect in a fatal shooting early this
morning.
29-year old Sandra Deshazo was found lying in the street near a car. She had
been shot once in the chest.
She died about an hour later at the hospital.
Meanwhile police did make an arrest in a murder last night in the town of
Hurt.
17-year old Margueritte Whitfield was shot with a small caliber handgun, at
the Pine Acres Trailer Park.
22-year old David Lee Jones was arrested at the scene, and charged with
murder.

The Mennonite Board of Missions filed a petition in Roanoke Circuit Court
asking to settle an ownership dispute.

And when no one would take responsibility for the low income apartments, the
building was condemned.
That forced nearly twenty families to find new homes.
The Mennonites claim to have sold the building to the Justice House Board of

A ruling is expected in a few weeks.

goals from Spooner and McClellan. But Roanoke's offense alone won't make the
playoffs.

A soccer game turns violent for fans in the Netherlands-

Fans clashed before and after the match between the Netherlands and
Germany.
Both a Dutch fan and a German fan were treated for serious stab wounds.
Police arrested fifty-eight people in all.
Thousands turned out for the match- a warm up for the European
Champisonships in England this summer.
Riot police beat German fans with batons as the match ended to prevent them
leaving the stadium before police were ready to escort them out.

Shaquille O'Neal tried out a new sport last night. He stepped into the ring
to swap punches with former welterweight boxing champ Sugar Ray Leonard.

They broke out the big gloves as Shaq got to mix it up with his good friends
Leonard and professional wrestler Hulk Hogan.
The bout raised over 12-thousand dollars for a good cause, even though Shaq
found himself "slammed dunked" several times to the canvas.
